Dear community,
For me, intention is the invisible force that shapes the quality of what we do.It’s not about why we do something (motivation), nor about how far we push ourselves (drive).
Motivation is the reason that gets us started.
Drive is the energy that keeps us going.
Intention is the quality we bring into the action — the care, focus, and purpose behind it.
As Oprah Winfrey once said:
“Intention rules the world. Before you act, ask yourself: What is my real intention?”
When we act with intention, even ordinary actions become meaningful.
A simple example from everyday life
Take something as ordinary as asking kids to clean the table.
👉 Option 1: They wipe quickly, push leftovers into the bin — but the bin has no bag, so it all falls into the empty bin. Task done.
👉 Option 2: They move everything, clean the table fully, notice the bin has no bag, put in a fresh one, and then throw the leftovers away. Task complete — with attention and care.
Both “get it done.”But only one is done with intention.
The same is true in organizations
Imagine you need to follow up with a client.
👉 Way 1: Send a short email: “Just checking in…”
👉 Way 2: Call and ask directly about the follow-up.
👉 Way 3: Call the client, ask how life and business are going, listen, offer support, then share the insights with your team. Create an action plan and pass valuable information to other departments.
All three approaches accomplish the task. But the last one builds trust, loyalty, and lasting value — because it is driven by intention, not just by obligation.
Why intention matters
Intention changes the quality of action:
In leadership: it turns authority into authentic influence.
In teamwork: it transforms coordination into collaboration.
In organizations: it ensures performance is aligned with values and meaning.
As Brené Brown reminds us:
“Clarity of intention gives us the courage to act, even when the outcome is uncertain.”
What intention brings to organizations
When intention becomes part of culture, organizations experience:
More trust → because actions align with values.
Better decisions → because choices are made with clarity, not urgency.
Greater resilience → because people feel connected to a bigger purpose.
Sustainable performance → because doing is guided by being.
This is also the foundation of my coaching. Every session, every workshop, every program with CoachIIN is built on intention: creating clarity, aligning actions with values, and ensuring transformation is meaningful and lasting.
Living and leading with intention doesn’t mean doing more. It means doing with focus, respect, and purpose.
Because true transformation — for a person, a team, or an organization — doesn’t come from ticking boxes.
It comes from acting with intention.
With clarity for this new week,
Laura
